Various CD recordings, TV and radio productions prove the versatility of this Viennese baritone. He has recorded Rigoletto, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Enrico in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus as well as Germont in La traviata (the latter even twice) for CD. He sang Papageno in The Magic Flutefor a CD Studio production as well as for a telecast of the Bregenz Festival. Georg Tichy appeared also in the telecasts of the Vienna State Opera of Un ballo in maschera, Lohengrin (released on DVD) and Manon as well as in the TV production of Il barbiere di Siviglia of the Belgian television.
Georg Tichy, prize winner of various international competitions also frequently performs at the concert platform. Besides engagements with many important orchestras Georg Tichy is renown as an excellent performer of Lieder, especially by Gustav Mahler and Franz Schubert. For CD he has recorded Schubert's Schwanengesang.
Engagements during the last seasons included Mendelssohn's Paulusin the Vienna Musikverein, Nabucco, La Traviata, Der Rosenkavalierand Siegfried at the Vienna State Opera.
In September 2004 he had a huge success as Tonio within a new production of Pagliacci in Tokyo. Further engagements in 2005 include Pagliacciin Tel Aviv (new production, directed by Franco Zeffirelli) and Don Carlo, La Traviata, Pagliacci and Wagner's complete Ring des Nibelungenat the Vienna State Opera. Most recently he could be heard as Renato in a revival of Un ballo in maschera at the Vienna State Opera, again as Alberich in the Ring and in new productions of Janáček's Osud and in Schönberg’s Moses und Aron and in Copenhagen as Alberich in Siegfried.
In the season 2006/2007 he began working as free lance artists after having been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble for the last 33 years, but he will continue appearing there regularly (during the 2006/2007 season as Rigoletto, as Germont in La Traviata, Lohengrin and Rosenkavalier). Further guest engagements in 2007 were in Tel Aviv for a new production of Ariadne auf Naxos, a gala performance of Rigoletto in Bucharest at the St Margarethen Festival as Nabucco and again at the Tokyo National Theatre for a premiere of Der Rosenkavalier. In September 2007 he returned to Tokyo for La Traviata and the folloing year for Rigoletto. Furthermore he sang Germont in La Traviata at the Vienna Volksoper in October 2007. Also at the St Margarethen Festival 2008 sang in La Traviata. This production has been released as DVD and CD as well.
Guest performances in 2009 include Faninal in Rosenkavalier at the Vienna State Opera his return to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly and most recent engagements inlcude Rigoletto at the 2009 St Margarethen Festival and in 2009 and 2010 La Traviata at the Opera in Cologne. In May 2010 he returned again to the Vienna State Opera for La Traviata.
