                                                        After graduating from the Royal Northern College Of Music in Manchester, Victoria Joyce appeared in numerous important roles throughout the UK: Zerbinetta in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Sophie in Massenet’s Werther, Adele in Strauß’ Die Fledermaus, Valencienne in Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe, Oriana in Händel’s Amadigi and Edwige in Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoe, for companies such as Aldeburgh Festival, English Touring Opera, Opera Holland Park, The Wagner Society and Carl Rosa Opera, for whom she has also performed all the major Gilbert and Sullivan roles. For the Royal Opera House at the Linbury Studio she created the soprano role in the award winning Wind in the Willows. First engagements in Europe have included Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro, conducted by Alberto Zedda, Adele in Die Fledermaus at the Festival Les Azuriales, Monaco and a recital of English song at the Spoleto Festival.

                                                        Her English National Opera debut took place in 2003 as La Charmeuse in Massenet’s Thaïs, and has since returned to perform the roles of Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Lucia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia.

                                                        In December 2005, Victoria Joyce made her debut as Queen of the Night at the Hamburg State Opera and had an outstanding success with the same role at the prestigious Macerata Festival within a new production by Pier Luigi Pizzi.  It was again the Queen of the Night, which she sang for her debuts at the Komische Oper Berlin in December 2006 and at the Semper State Opera in Dresden in August 2007. In June 2006, she sang her first Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore for Grange Park Opera, where she returned for another production of The Magic Flute the following year and in October 2006, she gave her role debut as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto in a concert performance for FM Classics in London. In April 2007, she returned to Berlin for her role debut as Olympia in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann.

                                                        During the season 2007/2008, she made her debut at the Frankfurt Opera as Contessa di Folleville in Il viaggio a Reims and appeared again in Berlin as Gilda in Rigoletto, in Die Zauberflöte, in The Tales of Hoffmann and in a new production of Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges. In August 2008, she sang Casilda in The Gondoliers and Phyllis in Iolanthe for the Buxton G&S Festival, where she returned in 2009 for Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. In September 2008, she returned to the Frankfurt Opera, this time as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. In December 2008 and January 2009, she appeared in Gilbert & Sullivan gala concerts in London (Barbican Centre), Birmingham and Manchester (Bridgewater Hall) and in February 2009 she made her debut at the London Queen Elizabeth Hall in a concert performance of Cilea’s Adriana Lecouveur alongside Nelly Miricioiu and Rosalind Plowright. Her successful Welsh National Opera debut took place in May 2009, when she sang Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème for the first time.For the Buxton Festival 2009, she sang the title role in a staged production of André Messager’s opera Véronique and Quiteria in a concert performance of Mendelssohn’s opera Die Hochzeit des Camacho. In August 2009, she was the star of two “Last Night of the Proms” concert with all English programs with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, conducted by Alexander Shelley.

                                                        In October 2009, she sang Gilda in Rigoletto in Bristol. In July 2010, she appeared at an open air concert to an audience of 40.000 at the beach of Royan in France, conducted by Jérôme Pillement. Also in summer 2010, she performed Mozart’s Davidde Penitente in Budapest.

                                                        A concert performance of Cherubini’s Medée at Cadogan Hall in London and with Chelsea Opera Group in November 2010, in which Victoria Joyce sang the role of Dircé, was followed by her debut at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw with a concert performance of Parsifal in December 2010. In spring 2011, she was singing Musetta in La Bohème for the Opéra de Limoges and in summer 2011 she gave her role debut as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Bristol.

                                                        In October 2011, Victoria Joyce will give her role debut as Mimi in La Bohème at the Longborough Festival and in December 2011 she will sing Messiah in Dublin.

                                                        Concert performances include Villa Lobos’ Bachianas Brasilieras with Ralph Kirschbaum, alongside a wide range of oratorio ranging from Orff’s Carmina Burana to Händel’s Messiah with orchestras such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, The Northern Philharmonia and the Northern Chamber Orchestra.
